UIL Area Marching Contest Information

Over 90 Senior Students from Orangefield High School attended the 3rd Annual Mock Interviewing Event at Lamar State College Orange. The Interviewing Event consisted of students participating in an interview with a local business, refinery, or industry partner.
A very special Thank You goes out to our hard-working partners for all the feedback they gave our students.
OHS students also received a hands-on lesson referring to Communication by Dr. Belinda George, Founder & CEO of “Tucked in Tuesdays” and Junior Achievement of the Golden Triangle.
Lastly, our students took a tour of the Lamar State College Orange Campus. The tour consisted of visiting several departments that included the Nursing Department, Pharmacy Lab, Library, Admissions, and Financial Aid Services. Thank you, LSCO, for your assistance and the use of your beautiful facilities. This could not have happened without you.
According to our students, the overall consensus was that it was a beneficial experience and they were appreciative to be able to participate in this special event.

To finish out our guest speaker series on the five healthcare career pathways, Principles of Health Science students welcomed speakers from Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital over the last several weeks. Kelli Huebel, NICU Program Coordinator, Clifton Simoneaux, Radiology Manager, and Morgan Cornelius, Certified Child Life Specialist, shared their education and career backgrounds as well as daily tasks and job duties. Students were able to learn about some specialty fields that they had never heard of, and had an opportunity to get an inside look into how all of these career pathways play a vital role in positive patient outcomes. We would like to thank them for volunteering their time to enlighten and lead our future generation of healthcare professionals.

Kaydance Whitfield and Breea Hubbard, Class of 2022, came and spoke to Mrs. Kimberly Spears' Ready, Set, Teach class. They covered the importance of RST, majoring in education in college, preparation for and different types of state exams, student teaching, substitute teacher training, and answered questions. They did such a wonderful job! Them being here was incredibly beneficial, especially to the seniors. We LOVE having former students return and share their stories. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat!

Last night the JV Orange Bobcats started off what would be a great night for both JV teams. Beating the Anahuac panthers 34 to 0 to continue an undefeated district record at 2 and 0. The offensive line would dominate up front creating running lanes for Hunter Block, Gage Lucas, and Jaxon Agerton who all had running touchdowns on the night. Kyran Morrow and Hunter Reeves connected on two touchdown passes. The defense also dominated up front and created four turnovers for what would be the first of two shutouts for the JV teams. Cylan Granger had a fumble recovery for a touchdown and Miguel Lecea added to the turnover total with an interception. John Royer was the leading tackler on the night for the fighting Bobcats. The Bobcats will travel to Coldspring next week.
After having last week off, the JV "White" Bobcats were back at it taking on the Lumberton Raiders in the primetime slot of Thursday night’s action at F.L. McClain Stadium.
The boys looked well rested to say the least scoring on every offensive possession of the evening. Quarterback Lynkon Delcambre got things started early with a 45 yard touchdown run to put the Bobcats ahead as Coach Barbay had his offense dialed in from the jump. Dacius Lytle was the next Bobcat to find the endzone on a punishing red zone rush. Lytle, like the other ball carriers for the Bobcats, benefited from Kip Watkins, Jesse Welch, Gaven Reyes, and the rest of the offensive line serving up a full buffet of pancakes all night long.
Those who stuck around to watch the raid of the Raiders were treated to scores in every facet of the game with touchdowns coming on defense and special teams alike. Max Sampson, Lynkon Delcambre, and Keaton Beatros all had interception returns for touchdowns with Beatros also dazzling the crowd with an electrifying kickoff return that hit pay dirt. Other special teams standouts were Kyle Mitchell who blocked a punt and Cole “The Headhunter” Prejean who had a bone-crushing tackle as a member of the kickoff unit.
Lumberton had a hard time hanging on to the ball as Davey Hogg, Kase White, Bryce Hooks, and Damion Kelley all forced fumbles. Two of those were recovered by Kolte Morgan and the last one was scooped up and returned deep into Raider territory by Mikey Lecea. In addition to the plus 6 turnover margin, the 4 non-offensive touchdowns had the "Orange Crush" defense putting up stats that would make most fantasy football team managers desperate to claim these fellas off of the waiver wire.
As the final buzzer sounded Orangefield had defeated Lumberton 54-0 leaving Coach Nash to tell his boys, "PNG better have their heads on a swivel come next Thursday!".
